چکیده

The GENIE project has built a Grid enabled framework that facilitates the integration, execution and management of component models for the study of the Earth system over millennial timescales. The existing framework supports collaborative study of GENIE models across heterogeneous compute grids through scripted workflows in the Matlab environment. In this paper, Windows Workflow Foundation technologies are applied to demonstrate the benefits of an environment that provides rapid composition, event driven logic and reliable hosting of scientific workflows. These improvements are demonstrated through a parametric study of bistability of the oceanic thermohaline circulation in a GENIE model.

A Clustering Approach to Scientific Workflow Scheduling on the Cloud with Deadline and Cost Constraints

One of the main features of High Throughput Computing systems is the availability of high power processing resources. Cloud Computing systems can offer these features through concepts like Pay-Per-Use and Quality of Service (QoS) over the Internet. Many applications in Cloud computing are represented by workflows. Quality of Service is one of the most important challenges in the context of sche...

Quality of Service Driven Workflows within the Microsoft .NET Environment

Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is gaining more and more momentum in todays software engineering, for its ease of integrating heterogeneous systems. Web services allow for building complex and dynamic systems where single components can be discovered at run-time by means of certain criteria like Quality of Service (QoS) information. QoS-aware service management and composition highly depend...

On Correctness Issues in Conceptual Modelling of Workflows

The conceptual modeling of workflows is the first, and arguably the most important, step towards understanding business processes. A well-defined workflow conceptual model leads to the development of an effective and reliable workflow application. This paper presents a graphical modeling technique for workflows. We introduce four graphical modeling objects: task, condition, synchronizer, and fl...
